About Us In 1971 we were requested by the Metropolitan Police to submit a sunglass for use by their officers which would be suitable for both driving and eye protection.
As a company we had already been in business selling sunglasses to all the major stores and fashion outlets (The company was then known as Debbex Optical Co Ltd). We also had a successful prescription lens side to the business where we carried large stocks of opthalmic lenses which we supplied directly to opticians and other optical companies.
We researched into the best possible lens for the Metropolitan Police ,which was Polycarbonate. This is one of the safest materials available and has exceptional strength and resilience. Polycarbonate lenses will survive the impact of a steel ball travelling at 160km/hr without shattering. This meets EN/EU grade for Low Energy Impact Resistance (small particle).
They then approved our sunglass and gave us their permission to use in our advertising the words "Tested and approved by the Metropolitan Police".
As well as the Police, the company now also supplies - Fire - Ambulance - Airports - Train Operating Companies and other professionals who require safety, comfort and style. In 1990 the business moved from London to Suffolk operating a contract and mail order only business.
We have a wide range of frames and polycarbonate lens tints - the frames being of optical quanlity. We also supply frames glazed to prescription in plastic resin, polycarbonate, polarized or photochromatic.
