POLYCARBONATE Probably one of the strongest and safest materials available. They have exceptional strength and resilience; they will survive the impact of a steel ball travelling at 160 km/hr without shattering. This meets EN/EU grade for Low Energy Impact Resistance (small particle).
An extra benefit of Polycarbonate Lenses is that they are thinner than standard plastic lenses as they are of a higher refractive index.
Clear Polycarbonate gives 100% UV Protection (It is the quality of the lens not the tint that gives UV protection).
Our Polycarbonate lenses do have a scratch resistant coating but, due to the nature of this type of material, please take care and do not place them face down on any surface to avoid scratches.
All our rimless and semi-rimless glasses are glazed in polycarbonate. Because of the nature of these type of frames, this greatly reduces the possibility of damage as the lenses have to be drilled or clipped into the frame.
